In the path of totality

On April 8, 2024, North America will experience a total solar eclipse that passes over Indiana. Several locations — including the IU campuses in Bloomington, Indianapolis, Kokomo, Richmond and Columbus — will be in the path of totality, where the sun is completely eclipsed by the moon. IU campuses across the state are planning events and programming for the eclipse to educate the public about this natural phenomenon.

Help during the eclipse

With several big events on the Bloomington campus and tens of thousands of visitors expected in the area for the total eclipse, IU Public Safety is looking for faculty and staff willing to help with various safety and event roles. Interested individuals can submit their information and will be contacted by IU Emergency Management and Continuity staff as plans finalize.
